CLUB UPDATE • 2026/27 SEASON
A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR OUR CLUB
Mepal & Sutton Football Club has secured new playing and training facilities for the 2026/27 season. The new arrangements are designed to provide a more sustainable future for the club and allow us to continue delivering football for our players without increasing annual subscription fees.
As part of these arrangements, the club will no longer play its home matches at Mepal Recreation Ground. This was not a decision taken lightly. Following a thorough review of our finances, operational commitments and long-term sustainability, the committee concluded that alternative arrangements were in the best interests of the club, its players and volunteers.
Over the past three seasons the club incurred significant financial losses. Alongside this, our volunteers carried significant operational responsibilities while continuing to provide football for more than 150 players each week. The new arrangements reduce those pressures and allow more time and energy to be focused on providing the best possible football experience.
HOME MATCH VENUES
- 5v5 football (U9s) – Brooklands Pavilion, Sutton
- 7v7 football (U10s, U11s) – Wilburton Recreation Ground
- 9v9 football (U12, U13, U13 Girls) – Wilburton Recreation Ground
- 11v11 Youth football (U16) – Brooklands Pavilion, Sutton
- Adult football – Brooklands Pavilion, Sutton
MEMBERSHIP FEES REMAIN UNCHANGED
Most importantly, these changes place the club on a much stronger financial footing. We are confident they will allow us to recover losses incurred over recent seasons without increasing annual subscription fees, meaning membership fees for 2026/27 will remain unchanged.
These arrangements are intended as an interim solution while we continue working towards a permanent home for Mepal & Sutton FC, with excellent facilities for generations of players to come.
We appreciate that changes to venues may be inconvenient for some families, but we firmly believe these decisions are in the club’s best long-term interests. They provide greater financial stability, reduce the burden on volunteers and allow us to focus on what matters most: providing enjoyable, inclusive football for every player.
We would like to thank Sutton Parish Council and Wilburton Parish Council and Football Club for working with us to make these arrangements possible, as well as all our volunteers, coaches, players, parents and supporters for their continued commitment.
