We are incredibly proud to announce that Mepal & Sutton FC has been shortlisted for Cambridgeshire FA Club of the Year 2026.
The Club has been invited to attend the Cambridgeshire FA Grassroots Awards Evening on Wednesday 23 September, where clubs and volunteers from across the county will come together to celebrate the very best of grassroots football.
The nomination is a tremendous honour for everyone associated with Mepal & Sutton FC and follows an exceptional period for the Club, with success across our adult teams, continued development throughout our youth section and an enormous contribution from the volunteers who make everything we do possible.
An Outstanding Season on the Pitch
The 2025/26 season has given Mepal & Sutton FC plenty to celebrate.
Our Men’s First Team were crowned league champions, while our Men’s Reserves secured a top-half finish, continuing to provide an important pathway into adult football for developing players.
Our Sunday Team enjoyed an extraordinary season, winning their league and reaching three cup finals. Their achievements also earned Mepal & Sutton the honour of being selected to represent Cambridgeshire in the prestigious FA Sunday Cup, taking the Club onto the national grassroots football stage.
The Club’s adult section also continued to grow with the formation of our first Veterans Team. In an outstanding debut season, the Vets finished runners-up in their league — a fantastic achievement for a brand-new side.
A Youth Section to Be Proud Of
But the success of Mepal & Sutton FC cannot be measured by adult trophies and league tables alone.
Our youth section remains at the heart of the Club.
Across our age groups, our young players have enjoyed another fantastic season of football, development and progression. Behind every team are volunteer coaches giving their time each week to create an environment where children can learn, compete, make friends and, most importantly, enjoy playing football.
Our pathway continues to give children the opportunity to begin their football journey at a young age, progress through youth football and ultimately have the opportunity to move towards the adult game.
For us, success in youth football isn’t only about winning trophies.
It is seeing a player score their first goal. It is watching a team learn to play together. It is seeing children grow in confidence and friendships develop. And it is seeing players return every week simply because they love playing football.
Those achievements may not always appear in a league table, but they are every bit as important to the future of our Club.

Being shortlisted for Cambridgeshire FA Club of the Year 2026 is recognition that belongs to the whole Mepal & Sutton FC community.
It belongs to the players who pull on the shirt every weekend.
It belongs to our coaches and managers who give countless hours to their teams.
It belongs to the committee members and volunteers working behind the scenes.
It belongs to the parents and families travelling around the county and supporting from the touchline.
And it belongs to our sponsors, partners and local communities whose continued support helps make grassroots football possible.
The past year has also been one of significant change for Mepal & Sutton FC. Throughout that change, we have continued to grow, adapt and make decisions focused on creating a strong and sustainable future for football at our Club.
To receive this recognition from Cambridgeshire FA makes us enormously proud.
Whatever happens when the awards are announced on 23 September, simply being shortlisted for Cambridgeshire FA Club of the Year 2026 is something everyone connected with Mepal & Sutton FC should celebrate.
